Movies are a great source of both entertainment and escapism, and it is for that reason audiences are more likely to forgive the occasional lapse in logic when it comes to something that happens on the big screen. For instance, if a news bulletin or documentary played as hard and fast with the facts as the movie business does, then there would surely be riots in the street. People go to the movies to enjoy themselves and more often than not don't even notice many of the narrative problems until after they've left the theater, and sit around with friends and family dissecting what they've just seen over a meal or a beer. However, there are plenty of instances when movies have shown complete disregard for both logic and common sense, relying on the viewer to suspend their disbelief a little too much. It can be anything from a plot that relies too heavily on coincidence to propel the story, some questionable character motivations or a plot point so ridiculous and unconvincing it takes you right out of the movie altogether. With that in mind, this article will take a tongue-in-cheek and ever so slightly cynical look at ten movies that can have their plots picked apart in just one brief sentence.
