E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982)
One that came completely out of the blue for me, thanks to the impressive quality of the model - I genuinely had no idea, nor no real inclination towards discovering, how this shot was achieved.
I would have much preferred to just go merrily through life imagining that vista was real, and E.T. was full sized, which is precisely why I will now forever blindly imagine that somewhere in Hollywood there's a giant puppeteer with a penchant for flannel shirts used in wide shots to pose life-sized models.
