10 Silver Linings To Godawful Comic Book Movies

3. X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) - Frasier With Blue Fur

FoxFoxX-Men: The Last Stand is yet another example of a superhero threequel that failed to live up to the expectations set by the first two installments and once again, the introduction of too many new characters detracted from what made the series successful in the first place. It may be hard to forgive Brett Ratner for butchering the iconic Dark Phoenix Saga, but at least he got one thing right. In all of the comic book movies that have been released over the years, it is hard to imagine more ideal casting than Kelsey Grammer as the Beast. Hank McCoy may not be the most impressive mutant in the power stakes, but Grammer's portrayal of the brilliant scientist makes him one of the most memorable characters in the film, despite being underused in the overall narrative. Grammer imbues the Beast with a dry wit and wisdom that perfectly captures the characters persona in the comics and although Nicholas Hoult does a commendable job of portraying a younger version of McCoy in later films, Grammer made the role his own with just one movie. After a blink and you'll miss it cameo in X-Men: Days of Future Past, fans are hopeful that Grammer will return for more screen time as the Beast in future sequels, including the upcoming movie X-Men: Apocalypse. Luckily, Grammer has already stated that he will be willing to endure the three hour makeup process once more if called upon, so the ball's in your court now Bryan Singer. Make it happen.
