10 Slasher Horror Movie Characters Who Were Seconds Away From Dying

We won't accept any arguments otherwise - The Terminator is 100% a slasher movie, and even filmmaker James Cameron himself has described it as such.

The entirety of the movie's plot is centered around a murderous cyborg, The Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger), attempting to eliminate the future mother to the leader of the resistance, Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton), and getting really damn close several times.

But the machine never gets closer than during the film's unforgettable Tech Noir sequence, where Sarah goes to a nightclub, believing she'll be safe, only for the Terminator to follow her there.

And just as the Terminator passes the table where she's sat, Sarah oh-so-luckily knocks her water bottle onto the floor, and not being a litterbug, bends down to pick it up.

As a result, when the Terminator scans the area moments later it doesn't catch sight of Sarah's face, causing it to keep walking through the nightclub and gain a little added distance from her.

This also crucially gives her future-sent protector, Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn), added seconds to spot Sarah and zero in on the Terminator itself, allowing him to make the save when the machine finally spots Sarah moments later.

If Sarah hadn't knocked the water bottle over, the Terminator would've noticed her sooner and probably blown her away before Kyle had any time to react.
