10 Slasher Movie Fates Worse Than Death
4. Final Destination - No Choice But To Hide In A Padded Cell
The one thing that the Final Destination franchise tries so desperately to hammer home is that fate is always predestined. So it stands to reason that a movie all about gory fates would end up on a list like this.
These movies show us that we cannot run away from our death, and that if we do, we may end up in a worse position than before as Death will follow you until he finds you.
Clear Rivers found this out the hard way.
After watching all of her friends die in gruesome and merciless ways, Clear realised, after her own almost-run-ins with death, that she was going to have to go to extreme lengths to keep him at bay. When we last see Clear at the ending of Final Destination, she and the only other two survivors of the movie believe they are finally safe. Only for one of the boys with Clear to be killed in the final seconds before the credits roll.
We meet Clear again in Final Destination 2, and we find out that she has truly lost everything. She is now the only survivor from the first movie and to escape Death indefinitely, she's locked herself away in a padded cell to keep away from Death's grasp.
Her new life is bleak and miserable and Clear is on the verge of insanity because of the paranoia that her life has led her to. She is constantly on the look out for dangers that could kill her and she has completely isolated herself from the real world.
But is this fate really better than death? I think not.
