10 Slasher Movies You Need To See Before You Die

8. Final Destination

Jumping way ahead now to the 21st century with Final Destination, perhaps the millennium's first great slasher film. Again, putting the slasher label on Final Destination is something that has been debated. This stems largely stems from the fact that there is no physical killer, as such, other than death itself. Despite the lack of an iconic slasher villain, it definitely checks the right boxes. The teens are there, the stalking is there, and the graphic deaths are there. This is definitely a slasher, only it puts a new spin on things. And that€™s what makes it great. James Wong€™s film is about a gang of students, who manage to essentially €œcheat€ death after one student has a premonition that the plane they are on is going to crash. He manages to get off the plane in time, and those lucky enough to believe him get off too. The plane crashes, as per his vision, and the rest of the flick sees the survivors wiped out by Death, in the order they would have or rather, should have died in the plane crash. What makes Final Destination essential education in a slasher student€™s curriculum is the sheer ingenuity of the deaths. From being hit by a bus to being strangled in the bathtub by curtain wire, it delivers all you could ask for. That, and the knowledge that Death is always lurking keeps the audience guessing and on edge throughout.
