10 Small Changes That Would Have Improved The Star Wars Prequels

2. George Lucas Should Have Stayed On A Conceptual Level

cool-star-wars-photos-george-lucas-in-carbonite6 George Lucas earns a ridiculous amount of hate these days, most of which is because of the Star Wars prequels. I'll always defend George Lucas because of the original films, but he has always been more of a visionary than a craftsmen, something that he realized when making the originals as he let other people write (or cowrite) and direct the films. The overall story arc of the prequel trilogy is fundamentally sound (I actually like the fact that they threw in some political intrigue, unfortunately it didn't really work) but spoiled by poor dialogue, badly realized characters and awkward directing. Keeping the basic story and hiring a quality writer/director pair to work closely with Lucas would have been an immense improvement.

I love movies, literature, history, music and the NBA. I love all things nerdy including but not limited to Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, and Firefly. My artistic idols are Dylan, Dostoevsky, and Malick and my goal in life is to become like Bernard Black from Black Books. When I die, I hope to turn into the space baby from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
