10 Smartest Decisions In Horror Movies
6. Blood Test - World War Z
Whilst World War Z might not be one of the best zombie films out there, since the public reception was luke-warm at best, but there's still one moment that stands out as a remarkably sound decision in the face of a world that's falling apart at the seams.
After outrunning a horde of zombies up a stairwell and arriving on the roof of a building, family man Gerry is faced with the possibility that he could be turning into one of the monsters, since battling his way through the undead to escape accidentally caused some blood to spray into his mouth.
Surrounded by his own two children, his wife, and another child put into his care, Gerry makes the split-second decision to dangle himself off the side of the rooftop should the 12-second transformation period take a hold of him. Instead of jumping into the helicopter, or getting anywhere near his family with the chance of turning into a rabid chomping machine, he checks the situation and analyses his response appropriately, prepared to fling himself to his death to stop those around him becoming compromised by the virus.
It's a bold move that turns out to be unnecessary in the end, but when you've seen enough zombie films where some idiot conceals their bite from the group - this choice is a breath of fresh air.
