8. Vision Picks Up Mjolnir - Avengers: Age Of Ultron

All hell breaks loose in Avengers: Age of Ultron when Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr.) A.I. J.A.R.V.I.S. (Paul Bettany) is uploaded into the synthetic body created by Ultron (James Spader).

The Avengers quite naturally regard this new entity, Vision, with hostility and suspicion, and his attempts to convince them that they must band together to destroy Ultron aren't terribly reassuring...until he casually picks up Thor's (Chris Hemsworth) hammer Mjolnir mid-conversation, that is.

This seemingly simple act, for Vision at least, cut through all of The Avengers' fear about his intentions, confirming his worthiness and good nature by his ability to wield Mjolnir alone.

Granted, Vision did it by accident, but it nevertheless crystallised the heroes with one unified goal, and from a storytelling perspective, was a brilliantly elegant way for Joss Whedon to dispense with bloated hand-wringing in an already wildly overstuffed film.
