10 Smartest Decisions Made By Final Girls In Horror Movies
9. Using The Timeloop - Happy Death Day
2017's Happy Death Day is the horror genre's answer to Groundhog Day. Killed by a masked man on her birthday, Tree Gelbman finds herself back at the start of that day and realizes she's in a time loop which sees her being murdered in different ways by said masked attacker.
But the time loop works to her advantage. Because of her unlimited lives, Tree decides to solve the mystery of her murder. Even though she gets herself killed numerous times because of this, she gradually improves through every day. She uses the loop to cross out suspects as well as avoid specific encounters with the masked man. Tree learns to survive better with her experiences but also becomes a better person because of it.
By using the time loop effectively, she saves lives like nice guy Carter. Tree also takes down John Tombs, a dangerous, escaped, serial killer, whom she thought to be the main suspect. All of these were possible because she decides to better herself with every loop. While Tree started out as a victim, she ends the film as a capable final girl.
