10 Smartest Decisions Made By Harry Potter Characters
8. Stealing A Car - The Chamber Of Secrets
Grand theft auto is never advisable. Very few times in history has someone stolen a car and greatly benefited from it in any way, shape, or form. But somehow, it worked out for Ron and Harry when they took the Weasley family car flying.
After being blocked from entry at platform nine and three-quarters and missing their train, waiting or at least trying to wait for Ron's parents would have been the wise choice. As fans know, Ron and Harry panic, and to avoid missing school, they steal the car and take it to Hogwarts.
After landing by way of smashing into the Whopming Willow, the spell-cast car seems to gain sentience and promptly kicks the children out of the car and hightails into the Forbidden Forest. But that carjacking ends up saving their and Hagrids' lives.
Hagrid's ever questionable advice and interesting choice of companionship lands Harry and Ron in trouble with some massive, hungry spiders. Thankfully for them, the stolen car comes to rescues them at the brink of a gruesome death.
If Harry and Ron had waited for Ron's parents, the car wouldn't have been there to save them, and Voldemort would have been resurrected in Ginny's body.
