"WHAT'S IN THE BOX?!"

It is appropriate that the greatest villainous masterplan in horror history has one of the most iconic despicable endgames imaginable.

Kevin Spacey's John Doe numbers amongst the vilest, most inhuman antagonists ever seen, sadistically murdering five people across 1995's Seven in barbaric parodies of Christianity's Seven Deadly Sins. When he eventually turns himself in, only two remain unaccounted for - envy and wrath. Doe threatens to plead insanity unless Detectives Somerset and Mills take him to where the final two victims are located.

Alone with a serial killer in the middle of nowhere, the detectives are bewildered to see a delivery man arrive and drop off a box. Eyes brimming with malevolent amusement, Doe reveals himself as the perpetrator of envy - he was jealous of Mills' beautiful wife, whose severed head is implied to be in the box. Mercilessly taunting Mills with the knowledge that she was pregnant, Spacey's villain reveals his final devastating masterstroke.

Pushed beyond his breaking point, Brad Pitt's enraged and heartbroken detective executes Doe - becoming the exemplification of wrath, the final sin, by giving in to his fury. As Mills guns down the loathsome creature before him, Doe's intrinsically wicked plan finally comes full circle.

This scene's emotional impact never truly leaves viewers, a harrowing testament to the Machiavellian abilities of one of horror's most abhorrent characters.
