10 Smartest Villain Plans In Horror Movies
3. John Kramer - Saw
The Plan: Saw's first "game".
While his entire depraved career as Jigsaw could be accredited as one of the smartest villain plans ever, this entry will examine what got Saw's John Kramer to the dance - his macabre cadaver act against the back-drop of an ingeniously twisted ploy in the series' first installment.
The extent of Kramer's meticulously barbaric planning is slowly revealed. He chains Adam Stanheight and Lawrence Gordon to a pipe - their only means of escape is to saw their feet off. The film soon adds an extra layer of motivation for Gordon - the pair's tormentor holds his wife and child hostage, framing the hapless Zep as the real Jigsaw Killer.
The depraved brilliance of Kramer's endgame is unveiled in the film's climax. After Gordon saws off his own foot and crawls away for help, a tape in Zep's pocket unmasks him as a patsy. Stanheight and Gordon both awoke with similar tapes, using a tape-recorder found on a dead body in the same room to play out Jigsaw's terrifying monologues.
While this sickening realization sinks in, the true extent of Adam's hellish predicament is revealed as the aforementioned corpse suddenly rises, revealing himself to be none other than John Kramer. The wicked mastermind emotionlessly informs Adam that he accidentally disposed of the key to his chains at the game's very beginning, mercilessly leaving him to die screaming in the darkness.
"Game over."
