10 Smutty Movies Which Somehow Got Rated PG In The 1980s
8. The Time Guardian (1987)
This low budget Australian sci-fi action adventure is largely forgotten today, and with good reason. Setting an ambitious, time-hopping story of a war between humanity and machines in the Australian outback, it has neither the invention nor the technical means to do its ideas justice, and comes off as nothing more than a hodge-podge of obvious homages to other, better sci-fi titles, most obviously The Terminator. If it's remembered at all today, it tends to be for the presence of a somewhat embarrassed-looking Carrie Fisher. Nonetheless, whilst their FX budget might have been somewhat limited, the makers of The Time Guardian saw fit to incorporate the cheapest special effect of all - female nudity, from leading lady Nikki Coghill. In a clear act of sexual flirtation, Coghill's character takes her top off in front of time-travelling hero Tom Burlinson and heads down into a creek for a swim, bare torso in full view - and it's quite clear where things are going from there. No, it's not exactly the most explicit love scene ever, but still a bit of a surprise in a PG.
