10 Songs That Got Popular After Being Used In Movies

1. Brighton Rock - Queen

Of all the musically inclined movies that have come and gone throughout the years, there has always been something unique about Baby Driver's relationship with sound. While there are many musicals that seem to use the songs as a bit of storytelling, having a driver that feeds off of his response to music in a heist movie like this is just the kind of off the wall idea that's almost too perfect. Anyone could easily go with your traditional bangers to get you through your day, but Baby has something a bit more grizzly up his sleeve.

Though Queen were known more for their radio hits back in the day, Brighton Rock occupies a weird spot in their catalog, being a showcase for Brian May's guitar skills as well as a way to incorporate a few more heavy metal elements into the band's sound. In the climactic scene of the movie though, the song may as well have been written specifically for the film, choreographing this insane car chase and blending in perfectly.

As the different echo effects layer on top of May's guitars before the final chorus comes in, it almost acts like a a symphony along with the scene, building in intensity until we're forced out of the car during the last few seconds. Other films might try to use songs to just try and capture some kind of intensity on the screen, but for the duration of this song, the sounds of the car could just as easily be another instrument in the band.
