2. The Scorpion
Scorpion plays in perfectly with the science and genetic engineering ideas of the new Spider-Man franchise. His origin involves one of Spider-Mans greatest supporting (or unsupporting, as it were) characters, Daily Bugle publisher J. Jonah Jameson. Fed up of Spider-Mans flaunting the laws of civil society, Jameson goes underground himself and finances the creation of what he hopes will be a superhero. Instead, he creates the deadly and insane Scorpion. Scorpion is a villain designed to be Spider-Mans superior in every way. While he is treated by some writers as an A-list Spidey villain and by others as a candidate for the Legion of Losers, theres no denying the potential for cinematic eye candy the pairing makes. Jamesons own guilt and remorse would fill the movie with tension and provide a great opportunity to explore not just Jameson as a character, but the entire Daily Bugle as a supporting cast. The villain has already appeared in the video game based on the first movie. With The Amazing Spider-Man 2 taking a break from villains with deep-rooted psychological motivations for their criminality, Scorpion could redirect the series in that direction easily.
