10 Spider-Man Villains (And Combinations) Deserving Of The Big Screen

10. The Spider-Slayers

I'm tempted to say, "OK, robots are a little passé by now." But to hell with that. Robots will never be passé. While Spider-Man fighting an army of machines might not be terribly compelling from a dramatic standpoint, it looks great from an action one. In fact, in the early days, Spidey fought robots all the time, most of them created by robot engineer Spencer Smythe. Always inventing newer and deadlier machines whose sole purpose in design is to hunt down and capture or kill the wall-crawler, Smythe's slayers were originally commissioned by none other than Mr. Sunshine himself, Daily Bugle publisher J. Jonah Jameson. Since Jameson hasn't even been established in the rebooted franchise, and since Jameson also had a hand in the creation of a more compelling villain, Smythe's inclusion could instead pave the way for a powerhouse villainous financier like Norman Osborn. Even better, the film universe could introduce Jameson first and foremost as Smythe's financier, making it all the more awkward when Peter Parker goes to work for him. Spencer€™s death from overexposure to the radioactive engines of his machines drove his son Alistair to become the ultimate Spider-Slayer himself. Many viewers are familiar with the 1994 animated series' incarnation of Alistair, and there's no doubt that a son avenging his father makes for fantastic cinema. Plus, Alistair's Slayer form is one of the coolest-looking villains in the Spider-Man universe, modern enough that he wouldn't even need any updating.
