10 Split-Second Movie Shots You Will NEVER Forget
3. The Homeless Person - Mulholland Dr.
If you haven't seen Mulholland Dr. in a while, you may not remember what it's about. Heck, if you finished watching this acid-trip posing as a movie five minutes ago, you'll probably still haven't a clue what you just witnessed.
Whether you've seen this David Lynch classic yesterday or a decade ago, there's one scene that should've remained firmly rooted in your mind. Near the opening, Dan is at a diner with Herb, discussing a nightmare he had where he encountered a horrifying homeless person behind the building. To shake off his haunting dream, Herb encourages Dan to have a look around the diner.
As he cautiously approaches the corner of the building, a nightmarish hobo slides into his view, causing Dan (and the viewers) to collapse from fright. Because this moment is built up for a solid five minutes, we should have seen this jump-scare coming a mile away. Despite the massive heads-up, it still managed to scare the life out of us.
Despite having little connection with the overarching narrative, this moment us sure to be embedded in your memory banks forever.
