10 Star Trek Guest Stars Who Played Iconic Movie Characters

4. Joel Grey

Fhifhifh Despite the wide range that muscials often take, The Sound Of Music wasn't the only one to deal with the encroaching influence of the Third Reich. Cabaret eschewed the family friendly route however, but like Star Trek, fills the screen with forward thinking ideals, taboo subject matters, and a supporting cast decked out in mini-skirts. Guiding the audience through this literal Cabaret of entertaining showtunes and political propoganda, is Joel Grey in both an Oscar and Bafta winning performance as the Master of Ceremonies. Unlike most musicals, rather than everyone bursting into song, most are performed either by himself, or Liza Minnelli's Sally Bowles (or both) on stage at the Kit Kat Klub. Songs which include If You Could See Her, a love song between man and gorilla which appears quirky at first, until that final line: "If you could see her through my eyes, she wouldn't look Jewish at all" underscores the fate that the cinema audience knows is only just on the horizon, and which the films characters must either learn to live with, or leave. Unlike Christopher Plummer who still portrays respected roles to this day, unfortunately Caylem isn't as fondly remembered (if at all), as even the Voyager episode he appeared in, Resistance, is hardly one of the series' most monumental.
