7. Where Did The Chosen One Prophecy Come From?
Before the prequel trilogy arrived, the concept of a 'Chosen One' prophecy hadn't really been mentioned in the galaxy far, far away.
But it would eventually become a crucial part of the Skywalker Saga, with Qui-Gon Jinn's belief that Anakin Skywalker was said person who would bring balance to the Force eventually leading to the rise and fall of the man who would become Darth Vader.
Despite being such a vital piece of the story being told, though, viewers weren't actually given that much information about the prophecy apart from the fact said 'Chosen One' would bring all of the balance.
2019 then brought with it the release of Claudia Gray's Master & Apprentice canon novel, with that book finally shedding some more light on the words which led the Jedi to believe Ani was the one.
In the book, both Dooku and Jinn are shown to be fascinated by prophecies placed within the Holocron of Prophesies by a Jedi mystic, with the latter studying them often. The 'Chosen One' prophecy is, of course, sitting within it, too, with the novel revealing the words of it after all these years:
"A Chosen One shall come, born of no father, and through him will ultimate balance in the Force be restored."
It's not hard to see why Qui-Gon's ears pricked up when Shmi Skywalker mentioned Anakin's lack of father, then.
