8. Labyrinth Of Evil
The stories of the Clone Wars are a continuity mess. You've got two TV shows, books, and comics all giving their own accounts of the events during that three-year conflict, and while even a genius couldn't come up with a way to make all of them line up, that doesn't mean we can't enjoy the stories by themselves. "Labyrinth of Evil" is one of those Clone Wars stories at works great by itself and enhances the story of the prequels, and let's be honest, those movies need as much enhancement as possible. Taking place directly before 'Revenge of the Sith," Obi-Wan and Anakin almost capture Trade Federation viceroy Nute Gunray, who escapes at the last minute thanks to assistance from General Grievous. Investigating the viceroy's mansion, the two Jedi discover a holo-projector chair which contains an after-image of the Sith Lord that has masterminded the events of the Clone Wars. The investigation not only takes Anakin and Obi-Wan to other areas of the galaxy, but also leads Jedi on Coruscant to investigate the possibility that the Sith Lord may actually be a powerful individual on the galaxy's capital planet. This book serves as a great prequel to "Revenge of the Sith" and expands on elements that were referenced in all of the prequel movies, such as how Kamino was erased from the Jedi archives and the "business" that Anakin and Obi-Wan got into on Cato Neimoidia. For those who watched the 2003 "Clone Wars" micro-series, this book also contains an alternate account of how Chancellor Palaptine was kidnapped by General Grievous right before the third movie.
