10 Star Wars Subplots That Went Literally Nowhere

3. Lando's Relationship With Jannah

There is a running thread throughout all of Star Wars of family. Ever since Darth Vader proclaimed himself as the father of Luke Skywalker, who in turn was revealed to be Leia's brother, there has been something of an obsession with family.

In any instance of a character with a slightly mysterious or unexplored past, the general thought is that they must be related to someone important. Just look at Rey, fans were so certain that she was the daughter of a key character that they essentially rejected the canon of her parents being nobodies.

At the end of The Rise of Skywalker, there was a moment that seemed to suggest the reveal of yet another father/daughter relationship. This was between Lando Calrissian and Jannah. The two sat talking after the Battle of Exegol, with Lando suggesting that they find out who she is together.

In The Rise of Skywalker The Visual Dictionary, it was revealed that Lando had a daughter taken in her youth, strongly suggesting that Jannah was that daughter, but again in the confines of the movie this went absolutely nowhere. All it did was serve to confuse fans, it furthered no stories, and would have been better left on the cutting room floor.
