10 Stars Who ONLY Trusted Themselves To Perform Big Movie Scenes
2. Quentin Tarantino Strangled Diane Kruger For Real - Inglourious Basterds
Quentin Tarantino takes a famously exacting approach to the violence in his movies, favouring practical solutions over post-production effects where possible.
This extended to him taking a literally hands-on approach when shooting the strangling death of Bridget von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger) in Inglorious Basterds.
Though the starlet's demise comes at the hands of the villainous Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz), the director opted to throttle Kruger himself, claiming that he wanted to make the strangulation look as realistic as possible while not relying on anyone else to get the right "look."
Tarantino shot two 30-second takes of him strangling Kruger near enough for real, a fact that re-surfaced recently after Uma Thurman outed him for forcing her into unsafe working conditions during production of the Kill Bill movies.
For her part, Kruger claims she felt safe at all times and fully consented to shooting the scene because she "trusted Quentin so much."
The end result is certainly appropriately discomforting, and let's be honest, you'd never guess it wasn't Waltz choking her.
