10 Strange Ways Actors Prepared For Recent Movie Roles
3. Ana De Armas Went To Marilyn Monroe's Grave To Ask For Permission - Blonde
Taking on the task of playing one of the most recognisable and iconic figures in the history of the human race is quite the responsibility, it must be said.
With that in mind, the folks behind the recent Marilyn Monroe fictionalised biographical drama by the name of Blonde clearly felt they needed to pay their respects to the titular figure before setting out to tell their big-screen version of the 2000 titular novel.
So, as the leading lady herself Ana de Armas would explain to AnOther Magazine recently, the decision was made to have each and every member of the crew write a message to Monroe on a big card before heading to the cemetery and placing it on her grave.
In the star's own words on the first day of shoot pilgrimage of sorts:
"We were asking for permission in a way. Everyone felt a huge responsibility, and we were very aware of the side of the story we were going to tell – the story of Norma Jeane, the person behind this character, Marilyn Monroe."
Armas has also noted previously how she felt the spirit of Monroe on set at certain points in the shoot, explaining at a press conference that "she was happy but she would also throw things off the walls at times and get mad when she didn't like something."
