10 Strangest Mistakes Kept In Movies
4. Anne Hathaway Sneaks Away - Les Misérables
It's just as well that Les Misérables' epilogue is so devastatingly captivating, enough that it might distract you from an otherwise hilarious blocking or editing mistake during one of the entire movie's most affecting moments.
As Jean Valjean (Hugh Jackman) dies and the spirit of Fantine (Anne Hathaway) sings her heart out behind him, pay close attention and you might notice that Anne Hathaway awkwardly ducks out of frame just as the shot cuts to a distraught Cosette (Amanda Seyfried).
More to the point, as Cosette laments Jean's death, we can even see Hathaway slinking away in the background, despite the fact that in the next shot we can see her side-by-side with Jean's spirit as they exit the room.
Talk about a deeply bizarre way to undercut a hugely emotional moment, but presumably director Tom Hooper thought that this was the best take of Amanda Seyfried's reaction, and hoped audiences would be so fixated on her that they wouldn't notice what's going on in the background.
The Internet being the Internet, though, that of course wasn't the case.
