10 Stupid Moments In Christopher Nolan Films

Christopher Nolan

There's little point denying the fact that Christopher Nolan is one of the most talented filmmakers working today; his films are without exception intelligently written and sharply directed, with each new film demonstrating even stronger technical proficiency. That said, probably the area the man is weakest in is his writing; he often lets some silly oddities slip through the cracks, yet the execution is so strong that it's easy to let him get away with it. But not today. It's time to dig down deep; here are the 10 stupidest moments in Christopher Nolan films...

10. The Batpod Flip (The Dark Knight)

The Dark Knight Ah, The Dark Knight, easily one of the best films of Nolan's 8 features to date, but it's also probably the one that subjects viewers to the highest number of idiotic moments. One of the most egregious slip-ups occurs during the climax of the excellent SWAT chase through the streets of Gotham. Batman rides his Batpod underneath the Joker's articulated lorry, and after using steel cables to flip it in spectacular style, performs a ridiculous flip off the side of a wall himself, looping around and landing back on his front tires, facing the flipped lorry. It's silly because the CGI looks jerky and weird, and it's just too daft even for a film about a man who goes around dressed up as a bat beating up criminals. Apparently Nolan put this in the film because he saw one of his sons playing with a toy that did something similar, and thought it would be fun; unfortunately, it's just dumb and goofy. This is accentuated by the fact that the score cuts out just prior to this, so it awkwardly has even more attention drawn to it.
