10. Star Wars - The Jedi Council Tasks Anakin Skywalker With Protecting Padme
There are enough stupid decisions that characters make in the Star Wars film series to warrant an entire list dedicated to them, but given that this is a list with multiple different film entries - we decided to go with one of the more obvious and stupid examples. Anakin and Padme - the greatest marriage in sci fi history, some would argue - are sent away by the Jedi Council to protect the life of the former queen of Naboo from the prying eyes of bounty hunters. The two of them are sent back to Padme's home planet because "she knows it well". Fair enough, having familiar surroundings is a good idea if you need to make a quick escape, nobody needs to question that choice. But sending Anakin Skywalker to babysit the queen turned senator? It's a choice so awful that you have to wonder if the Jedi Council share more than a single brain cell between them. Not only is Anakin - who is still an apprentice Jedi - being tasked with protecting a politically important individual, he is also known to have an emotional connection with her. It seems the most wise and powerful group of warriors in the galaxy didn't know this though, and decided to knowingly send an unstable and inexperienced Padiwan learner to protect someone of utmost importance. No wonder Darth Sidious manages to destroy the Jedi order so easily.
