10 Subtle Ways Horror Movies Made You Feel Uneasy

5. The Horrors Of The Internet - Cam

Directed by Daniel Goldhaber, 2018 flick Cam stars Madeleine Brewer and Devin Druid and became somewhat of a surprise hit amongst horror fans. The story follows central character Alice Ackerman, who is a cam girl and sells live video footage of herself to customers online.

Cam is stylish, sexy and lavish. And soon, our central character finds herself being hacked, stalked and threatened by an imposter who is pretending to be her. The fear mounts and so does the nightmarish events, though some of the best scares are delivered by reminding us of the way the internet and chat rooms can be so sinister and out of control. The movie feels very authentic, life-like and all too possible, using the internet landscape as the minefield of nightmares.

Although there are certainly gory scenes in this fantastic feature film, many viewers are left feeling uneasy about the internet itself, and how possible these horrors could be unleashed on us in real life.
