10 Supporting Film Characters Who Completely Stole The Show

5. Kevin Spacey €“ The Usual Suspects

This one€™s a no-brainer. Like Anthony Hopkins, you might think Spacey is in Best Actor territory here, but that€™s only because he does such an amazing job in the support; he completely stole the show from leading men Gabriel Byrne and Stephen Baldwin. The Academy rightly recognised him in the Best Supporting Actor category, which Spacey went on to win, giving such a memorable performance for his work pretending to be a sufferer of cerebral palsy throughout, only to pull off his greatest con in the final minutes. It was unexpected, it was a stroke of genius, and Spacey€™s performance elevated the film to become one of the best crime-thrillers of all time. The majority of people couldn€™t tell you Gabriel Byrne was in The Usual Suspects, and even fewer would be able to pull Stephen Baldwin€™s name out, but people know Spacey€™s there in that office. Whether you also think he€™s really Keyser Söze is up to your own interpretation of the film, but you know it€™s Spacey who walks away at the end. An honourable mention also goes to the actor€™s fine work on Se7en the same year, with David Fincher making the brilliant choice not to have his name feature in the opening credits, waiting instead until the end to reveal his antagonist's identity. Signature Steal: €œThe greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he doesn€™t exist€ And like that, he€™s gone.€
