10 Supporting Movie Characters Who Should've Been The Lead
9. Hit Girl (Kick-Ass)
There's a lot to like about Kick-Ass, the movie adaptation of one of Mark Millar's many mean-spirited money making grifts vaguely disguised as a comic book. From its comedy, which manages to be a great dark parody of superheroes in a world where Super exists - an accomplishment in and of itself - to its balls-to-the-wall action scenes. But you know what doesn't work? The main lead.
This isn't all that surprising, seeing as how Aaron Taylor-Johnson has the charisma and screen presence of a 10 day old sock. And yes, he's meant to be a wimpy little wet blanket, but those characters can have oodles of charm when handled correctly. But Taylor-Johnson isn't exactly Izuku Midoriya.
Especially when set against the far more enjoyable and complex Hit Girl. Not only is she a much more unique parody of superheroes, visually comparing the idea of a superhero sidekick with a child soldier, but her fight scenes are easily the best in the movie, and she goes through a much more enjoyable arc throughout the film.
Plus, more of Hit Girl would've meant more of Nicholas Cage, which is an objectively awesome thing.
