10 Supposedly Untouchable Movies That Need To Be Remade

10. Casablanca

Casablanca Little I could say about Casablanca hasn't already been said. I must admit, however, when I first viewed the film I thought it was overrated and an utter disappointment. Subsequent viewings lead to an unmatched adoration for the greatest love story for generations upon generations. Why We Need It: Probably the riskiest update on the list, Casablanca stands as one of the greatest romantic films of all time. With a timeless script and insurmountable performances from Bogart and Bergman, Casablanca can't be remade word-for-word, shot-be-shot, or even in the same historical context. But its story is great enough that it could use an update with some tweaking. But With Who?: Pairing Keira Knightley with Atonement director Joe Wright is the way to go. Wright's visual prowess and gentle touch amid worlds immersed in dysfunction are more than enough to ensure a perfect adaptation. The Spin: Change its title, change its name, and change its location. There are plenty of wars nowadays, and WikiLeaks has alerted us to present-day espionage, so it wouldn't be hard to believe what happened in the 70-year-old classic could happen today. And a word of advice: Don't even think of rehashing "Here's lookin' at you, kid." Wright would be so wrong.
