Copshop wasn't so much a movie people missed because it looked bad, but because it was initially a theatrical-exclusive release that didn't really feel like it needed to be one.

Everything in the movie's marketing screamed "this should be on streaming" - namely its confined setting with just a few actors - but by the time it actually hit streaming a short while later, people had largely forgotten about it.

It's a shame, as Joe Carnahan's savage action-thriller is exactly the sort of movie that should be getting championed and finding an audience on streaming services: an efficient, no-frills genre offering that's a witty, funny, brutal, and terrifically acted homage to earlier John Carpenter fare.

Frank Grillo, Gerard Butler, Alexis Louder, and Toby Huss clearly understood the assignment, bringing a tremendous amount of energy to this intense showdown between con artist, hitman, cop, and contract killer.
