7. Richard Donner
The Five Awful Movies: Assassins, Conspiracy Theory, Lethal Weapon 4, Timeline, 16 Blocks I actually feeling like I'm betraying myself somewhat by placing Richard Donner on this list, given my affinity for every single movie in the
Lethal Weapon franchise, including
Lethal Weapon 4, which I think humanity will look back on one day and realise it judged far too harshly. I mean, no, that won't actually happen, because humanity has far better things to do than re-evaluate third sequels, but you get my meaning. Anyway, for all intents and purposes, the general populace are not in favour of Mel Gibson and Danny Glover's fourth yarn. Nor are they in favour of Richard Donner's last five movies in general, actually, which - I must admit - lacked the originality, creativity and fun of his earlier pictures to the point that they were incomparable. I don't think anybody has even talked about either
Assassins or
Conspiracy Theory since they were released... and
Timeline? What's
Timeline? What the hell is
16 Blocks, for that matter? In the same vein as Rob Reiner, Donner was once regarded as one of Hollywood's most "reliable" directors. Which, in this case, has really amounted to nothing.
