1. Arnold Schwarzenegger
Though many actors have struck it lucky throughout the years, nobody has enjoyed as much luck as Arnold Schwarzenegger. The guy came over to the US from Austria in the late 1960s and has come to epitomise the American Dream; he demonstrated a sure lack of English and terrible acting abilities playing Hercules in 1969's Hercules in New York, and went on to star in a few forgettable TV shows and movies in the late 1970s. It was when he met James Cameron in 1984 that his life would change forever. Deciding not to cast O.J. Simpson because nobody could believe him as a ruthless killer, Cameron instead went with Arnold, and the rest, as they say, is history. Arnold enjoyed massive success as a result not because of his acting he was limited to a mere 16 lines throughout the film but because of his superb physical presence, and James Camerons crackerjack writer-director combo. Arnold capitlised on his nascent fame by starring in a number of superb action films in the 80s and 90s, including two Terminator sequels, cementing him firmly in the pop culture pantheon despite still being one of the most awkward actors to ever set foot on a film set. His likability and awesome look ensured that most audiences didn't give a damn about his acting credentials. He is the ultimate example of an actor succeeding both in spite of and because of themselves. Agree on our terrible actors assessment? Think we're wrong about Marky Mark?
