10 Terrible Castings That Doomed Comic Book Movies

8. Jennifer Garner As Elektra - Elektra

Spider-Man Andrew Garfield
20th Century Studios

Elektra is one of those characters that is deceptively hard to get right. The best adaptation of her so far has been the one in Netflix's Daredevil and even that one had some really rough spots. But hey, that puts it ahead of the Elektra movie, which is more akin to one really long rough spot with no smoothness to break it up.

Like the previous entries, there are a lot of reasons why this movie sucks, but the casting of Jennifer Garner in the leading role definitely does not help at all. For one, I'm pretty sure that at no point in the character's history has Elektra been depicted as a redhead.

Plus, while Garner is a very talented actress, her acting style is just wrong for Elektra. At no point do you buy that this is a deadly assassin badass who could kill more effectively with a paperclip than most men could with an AR-15.

This abysmal casting instantly brings the film's meandering pace, nothing story, and ill defined character writing into stark relief as there is nothing in her performance for your brain to latch onto.
