10 Terrible CGI Movie Moments You Can’t Unsee

1. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 - Ego's Expansion

Even the MCU can make a pig's ear of its CGI.

The most blatant example of this came in the second outing for The Guardians of the Galaxy in 2017.

When the first film burst onto the scene a few year's earlier, it was universally praised for its mix of perfectly crafted humour and deeply flawed characters who you could fully relate to. Even the talking tree!

Yet, one aspect of that first film which was a little overlooked was just how visually stunning some of the visual effects were. I mean seriously, go back and watch that final battle on Xandar. It's outstanding.

So, that's why it was so weird to see such a blatantly awful piece of CGI wedged into the finale of the sequel.

As Ego's seedlings began to terraform and his Expansion started to become a reality, fans in cinemas all over the planet couldn't help but wonder why his terrifying plan looked an awful lot like a blue version of flubber eating cities.

It was still admittedly awful that this big bad celestial was destroying thousands of planets all across the universe, but this shoddy visual just made the whole thing feel a little underwhelming.

Thankfully, the epic battle between Peter Quill and his father, coupled with Yondu's heartbreaking sacrifice helped cover up this blue mess. But, for a moment there, it looked like James Gunn had sh*t the CGI bed in the final moments of Vol. 2.
