Rick Moranis was the only cast member to return for the third installment of the sci-fi comedy franchise - and the only one that went straight to home video release - in what would become his final live-action film role to date after he semi-retired to raise his family as a widower.

The directorial debut of cinematographer Dean Cundey, who previously picked up an Academy Award nomination for his work on Who Framed Roger Rabbit, it really is a limp example of a series pushed too far, missing the acute sweetness of its predecessors to an extent - though Disney will revisit it soon with Shrunk, with Moranis set to end his long Hollywood exile.
