10 Terrible Films That Somehow Made A Killing At The Box Office

8. The Hangover Part II - $581,464,305

Little more than a carbon copy of the first film, only more explicit, Hangover Part II stuck to the tried and tested formula for comedy sequels of giving us 'more of the same' but with the setting shifted to a more exotic location (or just anywhere that's not America): in this case, Thailand. But this laziness proved more than sufficient for cinema audiences as the film plundered the box office to become the highest-grossing R-rated comedy of all time. By contrast, the far superior Bridesmaids, released around roughly the same time, would gross just under half its takings. There are laughs to be had in Part II for sure, but all too often they're tempered with outrage, disgust, or disbelief. A third film is set to be released this May and I'm already steeling myself to sit through Ken Jeong's nauseating Chinese caricature and Mike Tyson's tired cameo.
