6. Superman Returns (2006)
This film did not exactly face Superman-like expectations of astronomical feats and superhuman strengths of narrative or style, but viewers would expect at least a Clark Kent level of average quality. However, the ironically titled Superman Returns hardly puts out much return at all (for what was put into it), especially considering the famous franchise it follows. The poster is vibrant and classic with an image of high-flying ambition. It speaks the hope that superheroes and their movies promise us average folk. However, the poster image for Superman Returns reflects the outcome of the film itself in a quite different way after all: this superhero project clearly flew right over its filmmakers' heads.
