10 Terrible Movies With One Redeeming Feature
4. Nicolas Cage - The Wicker Man
Neil LaBute's ill-judged remake of The Wicker Man has found a new lease of life as a laugh-out-loud comedy, which was most definitely not the director's intention. When viewed as a serious piece of cinema, it is often labeled as one of the worst movies ever made. Looked at through a different lens, it is nothing short of hilarious and that has everything to do with Nicolas Cage's performance.
With any other actor in the lead role, The Wicker Man would have been a borderline-unwatchable crime against cinema. In the hands of the industry's most demented leading man, it morphs into something else entirely.
No other actor on the planet would be able to wring the sheer unintentional comic value out of the project that Nicolas Cage did. Stealing bicycles at gunpoint, punching a woman in the face while dressed in a bear costume and screaming about bees, this is a tour-de-force performance of such incredible overacting and insanity that it has since become the stuff of legend.
