10 Terrible Scenes That Ruined Highly Anticipated Movies

3. Anakin's Sand Monologue - Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones

Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones George Lucas is not exactly a paragon of strong writing - even the superior original Star Wars trilogy is packed with flaky moments - but here's a scene that flat-out killed an already pretty underwhelming Star Wars prequel-sequel. The worst parts of these movies are without question the horrendously forced romantic exchanges between Anakin and Padme, something made worse by the fact that Hayden Christensen gives a performance a wooden block wouldn't dare deign to, and Natalie Portman is clearly just taking the money and running. The offending line in question has Anakin declaring his disdain for sand, how it's "coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere", something which makes little sense within the context of the scene and is possibly the least romantic thing you can say to a woman.
