4. Batman V Superman's Hero Slugfest Didn't Disappoint
There are plenty of fans out there willing to defend Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but even some of its most staunch supporters will admit it's far from the film it could have been. A potentially powerful story is lost amid a messy narrative and Zack Snyder's dark superhero deconstruction wasn't a great fit for these characters.
Although it was a joyless slog from Metropolis to Gotham City and back again, Batman v Superman wasn't a total lost cause. The showdown between the two superheroes didn't disappoint, well, until the "Martha" part right at the end, at least.
Visually, the hero-on-hero smackdown is a treat. It's a Frank Miller graphic novel (one of the good ones) come to life. Every blow shakes the DC Universe to its foundations as Supes pits his near-invincibility against the Dark Knight's infinite resourcefulness.
Of course, Snyder and his team had to go and spoil it all by having the two combatants bond over their mother's first names, but until that point, this was the battle DC Comics fans had been waiting most of their lives to see on the big screen.
