10 Terrible Threequels That Ruined A GREAT Trilogy

7. Home Alone 3

Mummy Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

Home Alone 3 was the last entry into the hit comedy franchise to get a theatrical release, and it sure is easy to see why.

First and foremost, the third film lacked the one single must-have element of the beloved first two movies - Macaulay Culkin himself, who had taken a hiatus from acting and so was written out of the script.

And so, new lead Alex D. Linz didn't stand much of a chance when it came to filling the colossal void left by Culkin, while unaided by a dreadful script which simply felt like John Hughes' discarded off-cuts from the two previous films.

With a less-interesting protagonist, forgettable villains, mediocre slapstick gags, and the brutal absence of that magical John Williams musical score, this feels like Home Alone, well, at home.

That said, it's still leagues ahead of the three sequels that followed, even if they left the bar dangling in the ninth circle of Hell.
