2. The Da Vinci Code
Tom Hanks has a huge Box Office appeal and the Dan Brown book The Da Vinci Code was a best seller. Put the two together and of course you are going to have a successful film. But with a worldwide total of $758 million, wed still consider that some very good going. The film sold itself heavily on the controversial anti-Catholic Church angle and we were told that big secrets that would rock the foundations of the Western Worlds leading religions would be revealed. What we got was slightly different. A plodding story which dithers and panders to the source material so thoroughly, that it forgets to be a movie. This film feels long and by the time anything of interest happens we've already left and lived the rest of our lives.
