What is it with horror movies and dreaming of babies?

Whether it's poor Reg of In Fabric, or the ballsier Ripley fighting with the contents of her own uterus, the genre seems to love turning the miracle of pregnancy into a bloody horror show (an achievement which many parents will warn you isn't too much of a stretch).

However, those earlier examples pale in comparison to 1986's classic horror remake The Fly. This film from body horror head honcho David Cronenberg can claim the dubious honour of including maybe the most infamous dream birth in horror history.

This time, it's Geena Davis who is on the operating table, accompanied by one half of her tragic love triangle as she struggles and succeeds in giving birth... to a giant, writhing maggot.
