Hagazussa: A Heathen's Curse is a 2017 German horror flick written, directed and produced by Lukas Feigelfeld and stars the likes of Aleksandra Cwen, Celina Peter and Claudia Martini.

Hagazussa means 'witch' in German, and the film features a unique structure of being seperated into four chapters: 'Shadows', 'Horn', 'Blood' and 'Fire', all of which revel in homages to classic supernatural horror flicks of old. The story of the film is set in the Alps during the 15th century, and follows a young goat herder who is shunned by the nearby town and its locals through suspicions of her being a witch.

Robert Eggers' The Witch was released in 2015 and helped relaunch interest in the supernatural worlds of magic and witchcraft, and Hagazussa: A Heathen's Curse is, in many ways, Germany's answer to the success of the flick. Impressive cinematography and a chilling soundtrack composed by Greek duo MMMD help sell the creepy atmosphere and ramp up the sense of terror brewing throughout the movie's runtime, all of which pay off with some of the most shocking and equally terrifying sequences to have emerged from European horror in recent times.

Horror fan, gamer, all round subpar content creator. Strongly believes that Toad is the real hero of the Mario universe, and that we've probably had enough Batman origin stories.
