10 Terrifying Movie Characters You Never Actually Got To See

4. The Ancient Ones - Cabin in the Woods

Alright alright, The Cabin in the Woods shows a lot of terrifying characters. From huge insects, to zombies, the Kraken and a giant molesting tree, you see a whole horde of them, but none can hold a candle to the Ancient Ones. Once it's discovered that the cabin in the woods is essentially a loading bay for ritual sacrifice, it becomes clear that giant molesting trees are the least of the character's worries. Turns out that malevolent God-like creatures called the Ancient Ones live beneath the surface of the earth, and each year there have to be a number of sacrifices laid out in a certain order to appease their wrath. Around the world there are faculties and arenas where horror film tropes get played out and, quite cynically, are also betted on. As the other sacrifices around the world don€™t all go according to plan, it becomes clear that the cabin in the woods is humanity€™s last hope to prevent an attack from the Ancient Ones. Of the teenagers who went to the cabin, two remain by the end, meaning that the ritual has not sufficiently been completed. This means that one of them - who represents the archetypal virgin - must kill the other - who represents the €œfool€ (usually a stoner in slasher films) - to save the world. After a fairly tricky moral and physical struggle, she doesn€™t, and a huge hand smashes out of the earth whilst the virgin and the fool share a joint, reflecting on the end of humanity. This hand is all that the audience gets to see of these destructive creatures, and so you do not bear witness to their carnage and presumably terrifying attack.

Fan of Taylor Swift and the Dead Kennedys (a duet I can only dream of). I like dystopias, slasher films, and video games that make me feel things.
