10 Terrifying Movie Plane Crashes

9. Con Air

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uiBwg6DPXI Ah, Con Air, one of the finest action movies of the late 1990s, even if it's completely cheesy ("Put the bunny back in the box!") and has Nicolas Cage sporting one of his more ridiculous haircuts, which for him is quite something. Anyway, Simon West shoots the action sequences through with confident aplomb, resulting in this fabulous scene, as the felon-loaded plane begins its dangerous descent into Las Vegas. The fun begins when the Hard Rock Cafe neon guitar is sliced up by the plane's wing, and the plane then lands in the middle of a crowded road before it starts taking care of the traffic. The best bit comes when the propeller blade flies through the plane, scarcely avoiding Cage and his foe, Cyrus the Virus (John Malkovich) before bursting through the plane's body and hurtling towards the camera, complete with cheesy CGI. The kicker? When the plane finally stops, a gambling machine at the casino pays out its jackpot. Classic.
