10 Terrifying TV Shows You Didn’t Know Existed
4. Teacup (2024)
Executive produced by horror mastermind James Wan, Peacock's horror series Teacup is a taut, character-driven mystery adapted from Robert R. McCammon's novel Stinger.
Set in a rural community in Georgia, the series sees a group of strangers forced to come together when they fall victim to an unknown threat coming from the nearby woods. What starts as animals acting strangely soon becomes a horrific nightmare as paranoia and terror take hold.
The screenplay penned by Yellowstone's Ian McCulloch is superbly paced. The story unfolds at a deliberate tempo, ensuring viewers remain hooked by the central mystery as jaw-dropping revelations take events into unexpected territory that won't be spoiled here.
When the show isn't indulging in its creepy atmosphere, it's spending time with its core group of characters. Viewers come to gain an intimate understanding of the survivors' relationships and plights throughout each episode. When tragedy does strike, often with vicious ferocity, its impact consequently hits even harder.
Despite earning plenty of critical acclaim upon release, Teacup's low viewership resulted in it being cancelled after its first season. Had more people been aware of its existence, then this could have been one of the most interesting horror shows in recent years.
