3. The Creep Tapes (2024-)

In 2015, director Patrick Brice introduced audiences to disturbed serial killer Josef in aptly named found footage flick Creep. It was a fascinating character study of the unhinged antagonist, who was brilliantly brought to life by Mark Duplass and further developed in the 2017 sequel.

With the films revealing that the killer owns an expansive collection of tapes of his previous victims, there was a lot of room left to explore this character's murderous antics. That's exactly what Shudder series The Creep Tapes does throughout the course of its six short episodes.

Duplass is as menacing as ever. Balancing between enigmatic and deranged, viewers never know what the killer will do next. It's this unpredictability that makes him a consistently threatening presence and what makes this series as compelling as its feature-length counterparts.

While each episode is as creatively devious as the last, it's the final two instalments where this series is at its best.

By pulling back the curtain to give viewers a closer look at the killer's alter ego, Peachfuzz, alongside the fractured relationship with his mother, the series builds upon its central character in terrifying and meaningful ways.

With a second series announced, viewers can look forward to more murderous delights.
